The Northfield Municipal Building will be closed Thursday, November 23, 2017, and Friday, November 24, 2017, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
Northfield Ambulance Volunteers, Inc. (NAVI) will be holding its annual sale of Christmas trees and wreaths starting on Friday, November 24, 2017. Please click here for additional information.
LATE OPEN NOTICE
On Tuesday, November 28, 2017, the Town Clerk's Office will open at 9:00 a.m. The Town of Northfield sincerely regrets any inconvenience this may cause.
The Annual Christmas Tree Lighting will take place on the Common on Friday, December 1, 2017. Caroling around the tree will begin at 5:45 p.m. and the tree lighting will be at 6:00 p.m. This will be followed by a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.
The Northfield Farmers Market will be holding an outdoor "Common Spirit" market on Friday, December 1, 2017 (in conjunction with the tree lighting). The market will be open from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Unique gifts and locally-grown goods will be available. The Recreation Committee is hosting its annual House Decorating Contest again this year along with a new Business Decorating Contest. The House Decorating Contest has three categories: Best Overall, Best Clark Griswold, and Best Traditional. The Business Decorating Contest has one category: Best Overall. The houses and businesses all will be judged on Saturday, December 9, 2017, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Please leave the lights on and plug in any characters. You must apply to be judged (otherwise the judges won't know where to go). You also can apply for your worthy neighbor. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with name, address, phone number, and the category to be judged. Judges say it is very hard to decide because the decorations are all so good. Let's keep up the good work and not make their job any easier this year.

NOTICE PURSUANT TO 24 V.S.A. 1061 TO THE LEGAL VOTERS OF THE TOWN OF NORTHFIELD FOR PROPOSED CONVEYANCE OF REAL ESTATE
The Town of Northfield Select Board plans to convey an easement on the 4.5+/- acre property on Water Street owned by the Town and bordered on the north by 347 Water Street, on the south by 491 Water Street, on the east by the Dog River. The property consists of seven parcels acquired by the Town of Northfield through the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program: 355, 389, 405, 435, 449, 465, and 483 Water Street. The easement will be transferred to the Vermont Housing and Conservation Board (VHCB), for the purpose of ensuring proper management of the parcel for conservation and public access, in recognition of the VHCB’s invaluable contribution to property acquisitions across the state in the wake of Tropical Storm Irene. This notice is posted in three public places within Northfield, including the Town Clerk's office, and it will be published in at least one newspaper of general circulation no less than thirty days prior to the date of conveyance. If a petition signed by five percent of the legal voters of the Town objecting to the conveyance is presented to the Town Clerk within thirty days of the date of this posting or the date of the publication, whichever is later, the Select Board will present the questions of whether the Town shall convey an interest in this real estate as proposed to a special or annual Town meeting.
WINTER PARKING BAN
There will be no parking of motor vehicles on the streets or roads of the Town of Northfield, Vermont between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 6:00 a.m. from November 15, 2017 through April 15, 2018.
