ROAD PAVING PROJECT
On Monday, October 14, 2019, Pike Industries started paving projects on Water Street, Union Street, North Street, and Western Avenue. Water Street will be repaved from its intersection with Wall Street to North Main Street. Union Street will be repaved from its intersection with Water Street to Cross Street. The others roads will be repaved in their entirety. Flaggers will be in place to direct traffic. Drivers in the area should expect some delays and are asked to use some caution. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Town Manager Jeff Schulz at 485-9822. The Town of Northfield sincerely regrets any inconvenience this may cause and thanks Northfield residents in advance for their patience throughout this project.
TOWN OF NORTHFIELD, VERMONT
The Northfield Water Department will be flushing fire hydrants on all municipal streets starting on Monday, October 7, 2019, and finishing by Friday, October 18, 2019. Flushing may result in some discoloration and the presence of sediment in the water reaching your home or business. These conditions are not harmful and should be of short duration. If you encounter discolored water in your home or business, run the cold water faucet until the water is clear. For more information, please contact the Northfield Utility Office at 485-5411.

ROADSIDE LEAF COLLECTION
The Leaf Picker started operating on Monday, October 14, 2019. Leaf collection will continue through Friday, November 22, 2019 or until the first snowstorm (whichever comes first). Please move your leaves to the side of the road and they will be removed as soon as possible. LEAVES ONLY PLEASE! No brush or branches. PUBLIC HEARING: NORTHFIELD TOWN PLAN
The Northfield Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Monday, October 21, 2019 at 7:00 pm in the Community Room located in the Brown Public Library (93 South Main Street). The purpose of the hearing is to take public comments on a proposed Town Plan for the Town of Northfield. Please click here for additional information. The link to the Town Plan is here:

The Town of Northfield, VT seeks a Water/Wastewater Operator to assist the Utility Superintendent with all aspects of operations of the water and wastewater systems. Tasks include, but not limited to, ensuring all requirements are met to protect the public health and integrity of the water and wastewater systems. The successful applicant must be able to obtain all necessary licensing as required to operate the Northfield water and wastewater systems within five (5) years. Also, this position requires that the employee perform weekend duty one weekend a month. This is a full-time hourly position. TOWN FOREST STEWARDSHIP PLAN
The Northfield Conservation Commission has completed drafting a Town Forest Stewardship Plan. A public forum on the plan was held on September 25, 2019, and the draft will be discussed further at the regular Select Board meeting of Tuesday, October 22, 2019. The link to the plan is here:

PLANNING COMMISSION VACANCY
The Northfield Planning Commission currently has a vacancy and is seeking a new member for appointment. The position requires a commitment to attending at least one monthly evening meeting and participation in the work of the Commission. The Planning Commission is responsible for drafting the Northfield Town Plan and Zoning Bylaws, and other duties related to land use planning. To be considered for appointment, please submit a letter of interest, including a summary of any relevant background, to the Commission. HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTIONS
The Mountain Alliance & Casella Waste Management, Inc. will be holding four (4) Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events during 2019. The first collection was held in Randolph on April 20, the second in Northfield on July 27, and the third in Randolph on September 21. The fourth and final collection will be held in Northfield behind the Northfield Fire Station (128 Wall Street) on Saturday, November 2, 2019, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. These events are only for residents of Randolph, Braintree, Brookfield, and Northfield. FIREWORKS PERMIT APPLICATIONS
Northfield residents planning to hold a fireworks display should be aware that a revised fireworks permit form has been adopted by the Select Board. Please click here for the form. Please note the permit application has to be submitted to the Town Manager at least fifteen (15) days prior to the event.
