ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
The Town of Northfield,
Vermont (population 6,100) is seeking to hire an Economic Development
Director to support local businesses in their sustainability, growth, and
expansion; to build a network within the State and region to attract
potential employers and residents to Northfield; and to support the town’s
vision for housing and other key development priorities.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge and work experience with municipal zoning and infrastructure, planning programs and processes, economic development tools and programs, and a proven successful record in economic development leadership roles. In addition, that person shall be a capable public speaker, communicate effectively with groups and individuals, engineers, architects, developers, businesses, and the general public, and capable of establishing working relationships and networks with developers, community organizations, and business professionals.
This is a part-time position at twenty-four (24) hours per week. The salary is negotiable based upon experience. A complete job description is available here. VERMONT PRIMARY ELECTION
ABSENTEE BALLOTS ARE NOW AVAILABLE!
In-person voting will take place at the Northfield Middle/High School on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Should you decide to come to the polls to vote, please, please wear a mask! Things are a little different due to COVID-19. The State of Vermont did a mass mailing of postcards so voters could request an absentee ballot through the mail. All you need to do is fill it out, return to the Town Clerk’s office, and a ballot will be mailed to you. You also can vote absentee in the office or pick up a ballot (your own only). We highly recommend that we mail you a ballot to minimize public contact at the school. TOWN OF NORTHFIELD, VERMONT
MUNICIPAL BUILDING PUBLIC ACCESS
The Northfield Municipal Building partially reopened to the public on Wednesday, May 27, 2020. Persons exhibiting symptoms of respiratory illness will not be allowed in the building and all visitors are required to wear masks while in the building. The municipal offices will be limited to no more than six (6) visitors in the building at one time. We also ask that those planning to visit the Lister's Office (485-9825) or the Zoning Administrator (485-9824) call ahead for an appointment. The Town vault and records will be open to the public/researchers by appointment on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Please call the Town Clerk's Office at 485-5421 for an appointment.

NORTHFIELD MUTUAL AID TASK FORCE
The Northfield Mutual Aid Task Force has formed to link local people with COVID-19 information and/or resources with those who need assistance. They also are looking for volunteers to assist with this effort. Please click here for their contact information.
HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION
The Mountain Alliance and Casella Waste Management will be holding their next HHW Collection event on Saturday, September 19, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. behind the Northfield Fire Station (128 Wall Street). The collection is for residents of Randolph, Braintree, Brookfield, and Northfield.
NORTHFIELD FARMERS MARKET
The Northfield Farmers Market will reopen on Tuesday, May 12, 2020. Outdoor markets will be held on the Common from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. every Tuesday afternoon with modifications in order to be in compliance with state health guidelines. Please click here for additional information.
NORTHFIELD TRANSFER STATION
The Northfield Transfer Station will remain open during its regular business hours (8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) on Wednesdays and Saturdays. RANDOLPH STUMP DUMP NOW OPEN
The Mountain Alliance will be operating a free drop-off location for yard debris Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. starting May 2, 2020 and ending November 7, 2020. The location is the closed landfill in Randolph (250 Landfill Road). The stump dump is only available for residents for Randolph, Braintree, Brookfield, and Northfield. FIREWORKS PERMIT APPLICATIONS
Northfield residents planning to hold a fireworks display should be aware that a revised fireworks permit form has been adopted by the Select Board. Please click here for the form. Please note the permit application has to be submitted to the Town Manager at least fifteen (15) days prior to the event.
